About

One of the top shops in the Fuji and Fujinomiya area, and called the No. 1 sake destination in eastern Shizuoka. The range runs from famous labels nationwide to Shizuoka local sake, and stock is kept cold in a walk-in refrigerated room at the back (it is quite cold, so be prepared). The staff are knowledgeable and choose well once you describe your taste, and the shop is known as a pilgrimage stop even among Korean visitors, with good service for foreign customers. Photography inside the shop is prohibited, as the shop is sensitive about prices being made public.

How to buy

Premium limited bottles such as Juyondai, Hiroki, and Aramasa No. 6 are not put on the shelves and are sold only through a points system — points accumulate with the amount you spend (to prevent resale), and once you have enough you earn the right to buy at list price. Point cards can be transferred to other people, so friends can pool them, and if you go early in the morning Aramasa No. 6 is sometimes out on display. Cards and transit-card e-money are accepted (it used to be cash only), and while bags cost extra, purchases are packed into a cardboard box for free. Nationwide shipping is also available.

Getting there

Mount Fuji is visible from in front of the shop. Free parking is behind the shop toward Fuchi Shrine, but you have to go through a narrow lane beside the shop to reach it, and monthly-rental spaces are mixed in, so it is hard to find the first time. Ask the staff if you get lost. Weekends are crowded, so weekdays are more relaxed.
