It sits inside a residential area, but among sake and shochu enthusiasts it is treated as a pilgrimage site, and the refrigerated cases and shelves are packed with local sake, shochu, wine, and one-cup sake from across the country, which is a pleasure to look through. The staff's recommendation cards are detailed, and if you describe your taste they will pick something quite specific, whether for a gift or for a beginner. How to buy

The biggest draw is being able to buy rare local sake at list price. That said, popular labels such as Juyondai, Aramasa, Denshu, and Hiroki come with point conditions, so a first-time visitor should not expect to buy them straight away. According to reviews, sake points accumulate at 1 point per 2,200 yen, and the system has run along the lines of 50 points for Juyondai, 10 for Aramasa, 5 for Denshu, and 5 for Hiroki. Cards and PayPay are accepted, but reviews repeatedly say points are only given on cash payments, so paying cash is an advantage if you are after rare bottles.

Getting there

Walkable from Araiyakushi-mae, Higashi-Nakano, and Ochiai Stations, but it is a little way from all of them and the route is easy to lose. The official directions even say to call right away if you get lost, so check the map on a first visit. There are 4 free parking spaces behind the coin parking in front of the shop, though some reviews say that coin parking is gone, so allow extra time if you drive. Saturday afternoons get quite busy.
